Hello! I am Chandani, a product designer from Bay Area, California.

My most recent work stint was with Smiota where I designed a mailroom pro applications for clients like Facebook, to ease out the package mail delivery process of the mailroom employees. Having led the design team in this young, rapidly growing startup - taught me how to balance business and design goals, understanding engineering constraints as I unrelentingly advocated for the user.

I am a multidisciplinary designer skilled at UX, interaction and visual design. With passion to solving real problems, I design simple and holistic solutions. I am a strong believer that successful design is produced through an iterative and collaborative process of decisions, backed by user-tested design. My strengths lie in brainstorming, collaboration, ideation and design. I am passionate about using my knowledge to design meaningful solutions and help make lives easier and I am up always for a good design challenge!

Recently I also got an opportunity to collaborate with various clients from various sectors like events and finance industries as a UX / UI designer. In this role, I worked closely with the developers, CEO and other vital stakeholders to rebrand and redesign their websites. Participating in design hackathons lately has also given me ample of opportunities to diversify my knowledge and collaborate with designers from all around the world.

In addition to that I am under the process of creating a group on the meetup specially for the senior citizens, where I will be teaching them about the new features of the daily apps and how they can use them to their maximum benefits during these testing times.

My journey to user experience design

I grew up in 3 different states in India and my ability to quickly adjust to new challenges in life comes from the varied experiences. Owing to my diverse upbringing, I embrace all cultures and try to bring it to the designs I create. Creating and transforming places or products has always been of my interest.

I believe that creativity has no limits. After spending some years in the media, communications and events industry, as an event planner and designer, where I designed corporate events , weddings and shows for my clients, UX has always been part of my journey knowingly or unknowingly. Throughout these years, I have been part of designing, iterating and curating experiences through events according to the needs of my clients.

After working for 5 years in events & media industry in countries like Australia, India and USA, I found myself looking out for a role that involved problem solving and design in a user-centric environment. I found my perfect fit in a role of UX designer by joining General Assembly as a UXDI student to immerse myself in the world of UX design and continued to educate myself in human-centered design, technology and design thinking during and after my academic education.

What feeds me

When I am not designing, I am usually found reading books on mindfulness and human psychology, creating art, listening to music, playing catan, experimenting with my cooking skills and watching travel series / blogs. I love engaging myself in activities which feeds my soul whether it’s learning a new language, or adopting a new hobby.
